The alleged discoverer of the North Yankton DLC in GTA Online has just confessed that it was an elaborate hoax. Following this admission, he plans to go o
As reported yesterday, North Yankton was allegedly an area hiding near the introduction of the main game, and hides Niko and Roman Bellic. The place was supposed to be based on North Dakota, an area in the US close to the Canadian border, although it’s not in Canada itself.
The elaborateness of the hoax was such that creator theNGclan was able to create a full storyline, a list of vehicles, weapons, possible music and radio stations, and characters. There are even supposed videos of the area, presumably created independently of theNGclan himself.
On his confession, theNGclan explained he was getting angry with the increasingly popular threads on GTAforums, where he pulled it off. He made reference to posts discovering jetpacks and negative criticisms of the game and wanted to come up with something that would divert attention from these other threads.
However, he did not expect others to pick up and add more layers to his invention, even taking credit for his ‘discovery’, so now he’s decided to admit everything, thereby proving he came up with it first, even if it meant breaking the illusion.
Although there’s something fascinating watching other people build up on this hoax with inventions of their own, the important takeaway is, unfortunately, the main thing here is that the whole thing was made up, so you may as well forget everything you may have read about it.
