Quantic Dream continues to push technology forward – whether it be through the unique Kara demo or the recently released Beyond: Two Souls. It’s a studio that’s dedicated to creating experiences like no one else has seen before, with graphics that push current hardware to new extremes. Even if the actual games produced aren’t universally acclaimed, it’s always fun to see just how good Quantic Dream can make the final product look.
With the power of the PlayStation 4, studio co-founder Guillaume de Fondaumière believes the gap between what’s being produced now and what can be done in the future will continue to widen. The Dark Sorcerer demo shown at E3 was visually stunning, but it’s nothing compared to what’s coming down the road.
“When we started The Dark Sorcerer six months ago, we had an idea of where we were going and where we'd arrive, from a graphical standpoint,” de Fondaumière told Gameranx in a recent interview. “For us, the challenge was to go slightly better than Beyond. Because that's what we thought all we could do.
“But after six months of work on the demo, we saw a huge gap that we were able to close. And that's only after a year and a half of working on the basic engine features, on just a prototype. We are going to go far beyond that on PlayStation 4.”
Don’t expect to hear anything from Quantic in the near future, with Beyond only hitting store shelves this month.
