Ace of Spades Battle Builder Brings The Game Long-Awaited Map Editor Features

October 16, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Making a new environment you will whittle down in firefights is now easier than ever before.

Jagex today revealed that they are coming out with a new installment to their creative shooter, Ace of Spades. The creators of Runescape are coming out with Ace of Spades: Battle Builder, which boasts a new set of map and level design tools.

You can think of Ace of Spades as a Minecraft FPS. You build up your environment, shoot each other until it breaks down, and then rebuild it all over again. As many as 32 people can join in for some fun Legolike multiplayer action.

With Battle Builder, Ace of Spades maps can be built on top of nine templates.  Themes include the grasslands, lunar, mountains, temple, and urban. Build appropriate structures, such as mountains, trees, and ruins on top to make some very fun and playable battle maps. More tools let you carve and paint objects into whatever your heart desires, to tear apart a few minutes later. Battle Builder also comes with Ace of Spades’ prior DLC, St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. This includes VIP and Territory Control Modes.

Jagex producer David Cobb shares in a statement, "The release of Ace of Spades: Battle Builder is huge step forward in the evolution of this unique game. The Map Creator offers long-awaited functionality that massively enhances player collaboration, while combat in the game has been refined and further balanced. Jagex has listened to the game’s player community and kept Ace of Spades: Battle Builder true to its roots to ensure it delivers engaging and fun action.”

If you already have Ace of Spades, you’ll get Battle Builder, along with the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre DLC, all for free. Check out two new trailers below, and get the game on Steam here.
