Gunfire Games has been around since 2014 and while they have had a few video game titles such as on the VR platforms they may be best known for their Darksiders III video game release as of late. While this was a private studio over the past few years, it was recently announced that THQ Nordic has acquired the company.
That’s right, THQ Nordic announced through a press release that Gunfire Games is one of their latest subsidiaries. This may fit well as THQ Nordic was a publisher behind Darksiders III. According to THQ Nordic, by acquiring Gunfire Games the company can further strengthen the company footprint within the United States.
“With the acquisition of Gunfire Games we are strengthening THQ Nordic’s footprint in the US and are adding an experienced and talented development team that we know very well from having collaborated on Darksiders. Gunfire will contribute with premier development expertise to the group with realizable synergies from day one. It is with great anticipation of future projects we now welcome the team to the THQ Nordic family.”
Lars Wingefors Group CEO THQ Nordic
“Having worked together on the development of Darksiders, we are confident that becoming part of THQ Nordic is a great next step for Gunfire. I believe that the experience and publishing capabilities of THQ Nordic will be important in supporting our growth journey and enabling us to continue doing what we love – making great games. We are excited to continue working together going forward.”
David Adams CEO Gunfire Games
We’re not sure what THQ Nordic will have the employees working on now at Gunfire Games, but at the moment, it still looks like Remnant: From The Ashes, an upcoming survival action shooter from Gunfire Games and published through Perfect World Entertainment is still set for its release later this month.
