Battle royale video games have become all the rage lately as gamers flocked to the new titles that release which pins players against each other. Despite the popular genre and a ton of games releasing as strictly a battle royale title or with a battle royale game mode, there was plenty of hype behind the upcoming Mavericks: Proving Grounds. This battle royale title has now been killed off and it’s due to lack of funds.
The developer behind the game, Automaton Games Limited, had some big ambitions for the upcoming title. They were crafting up a battle royale that featured a massive world for players to inhabit as they sought out resources and weaponry to defeat opposing hostiles. The game world was supposed to handle a thousand players with PvP holding 400 gamers in each match. This would make for a lengthy and chaotic game for battle royale players to enjoy, but it looks like we won’t get that game as the company was not able to receive the needed funds to continue development.
Automaton Games Limited has started the process of licensing the video game Deceit so the title will be able to continue and the Mavericks: Proving Grounds has now been canned but we’re wondering just how far along the developers were for this title.
At the moment, it’s uncertain if this game was close to being ready for the public use but one thing is for sure, it’s a big bummer for those who were waiting on its launch. It looks like you’ll have to stick with your current battle royale favorites until the next big title makes it out of development for others to enjoy.
