Rockstar Games has provided an update just four hours ago regarding issues with the Grand Theft Auto Online launch.
Rockstar provides a list of known issues that they are working on, as follows:
- Players receiving message “Rockstar Cloud Servers Unavailable”
- Game freezing when in the first race, and is loading into the “waiting for other players” screen
- Players receiving message “Failed To Host a GTA Online Session”
- Players receiving message “Timed out when matchmaking for a compatible GTA Online Session to join”
- Occassional errors with jobs failing to start or load
- Issues with the Social Club
- Players receiving “Mission Failed” message when mission is about to start
- Other network and server related issues, including error messages, disconnections, or cloud server errors
Rockstar of course, ends their post by asking for patience and telling people to subscribe to get notifications when they provide updates. They also add later that what they are doing at the moment is monitoring their support systems, including in-game data, social networks, and forums, so they can keep tabs on community sentiment along with traffic.
Rockstar has yet to explain why people are having issues with the game. Of course, we have recently seen similar issues pop up for Diablo III, SimCity, and Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, but lacking Rockstar’s official word, it may be too hasty to say that they did not prepare enough servers to match interest. Whether it is a lack of server capacity or not, the $ 800 million in sales they hit at launch doesn’t seem as great as before.
