When it comes to the Ghostbusters franchise, everyone is familiar with the classic installments. Despite there being a massive following and a ton of support for what’s left of the cast to rejoin and put out a new film, it never came to fruition. Instead, we got a remake of sorts that failed to meet the expectations of both fans and critics. There was one saving grace of getting a new unique story featuring our favorite Ghostbusters and that came through a video game medium.
You may recall the video game Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which launched in 2009 for the current day platforms. This game was highly reviewed and gave fans a look at what a third installment featuring the original Ghostbusters cast would have looked like. This could be surprising because most video game titles that are based around another medium franchise tends to never do all that well.
At any rate, it looks like for those of you who missed out on the game and want to try it out, a remaster may be coming soon. A leaked rating board from Taiwan has revealed Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered which seems to only have an Xbox One platform attached at the moment. It doesn’t have a release date attached but according to reports, it seems that the development team, Mad Dog Games, are the ones who will be working on the remastered edition. Furthermore, this could line up well as E3 is just around the corner and with it comes Microsoft’s press conference, an event that Microsoft promises to be big. One of those big announcements could be the remastered edition of the Ghostbusters video game title but that’s purely speculation.
With all that said, there has been no official release date or announcement for that matter. We simply have to label this leak as a rumor for now. But if you still want to enjoy the game then you can do so for last generation consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
