After receiving a tease and hints towards its announcement, fans were overjoyed to find that Gearbox Software was releasing a third main installment to the Borderlands franchise. Borderlands 3 is coming later this year and with it comes the announcement of its exclusivity to the Epic Games Store. This was revealed shortly after the hype has increased over the video game launch but it looks like there will be plenty of upset gamers.

Steam has been the go-to digital service marketplace for PC gamers but now that a new real contender has come in, we’re seeing more titles become exclusive to the opposing service. Epic Games Store gives some real incentive for video games to be released under their store marketplace as IP owners will receive a greater cut of money compared to the alternative at Valve’s Steam marketplace. Borderlands 3 already having a ton of players eager to pick up a copy, this may sway enough players to go ahead and make the switch over to the Epic Games Store marketplace.

Fortunately for those who are sticking to Steam and avoiding Epic Games Store, it looks like the Borderlands 3 video game won’t be a full-on exclusive to the Epic Games Store but a timed exclusive. Regardless, there’s definitely going to be a waiting period before you’ll be able to enjoy the game on the long-established marketplace.

If you’re looking for a more detailed breakdown why Steam and Epic Games Store is becoming a hot topic for PC gamers then you can check out our video below. As for when you can get your hands on Borderlands 3, the game will be launching on September 13, 2019, for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One platforms.
