In a list of 100 titles scheduled for release in the Playstation 4’s first year, PS4Cheats may have subtly confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 could be coming before the end of 2014.
In fact, PS4Cheats is careful to point out that 33 games are coming just for 2013, and the total number of games in development run to 180. So, they did their research to make this list (which, of course, will have certain titles in common with the other two lists of games).
In early interviews, series producer Tetsuya Nomura expressed concerns that they might have announced the game too early. However, looking back at this statement, his worry was more along the lines of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix and Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance releasing relatively recently. He made references to the stage of the game’s development, but he did not explicitly declare what stage of development they were actually at.
In an earlier interview, Nomura also confirmed the game would also make its way for the Xbox One, but we do not know enough to confirm if it would be a simultaneous release.
The launch batch of Playstation 4 and Xbox One games have apparently been in development for two years in advance of launch, so if Kingdom Hearts 3 is also arriving in only a year from now, Square Enix must have been at work at it for much longer. Sony have also made earlier statements implying the lion’s share of announced games won’t be arriving until the tail end of 2014 as well, so this rumor may hold some water after all. We’ll keep you up to date as details emerge.
In the meantime, you can check out the official English trailer below.
