Sega is exceedingly optimistic for Total War: Rome II after announcing that it has now become the most preordered game in the series to date. While the company did not release numbers, they did reveal that it is now over six times the number of preorders for its last iteration, Total War: Shogun II.
In a statement to the press, Sega product manager Sam Sadeghi explained that Creative Assembly is working hard to finish the game up to as polished a degree as possible. Sega will also be throwing money behind promotion for Total War, online, in print and on TV. This promotion will include a special feature in UK news outlet The Guardian, and advertising spots on Discovery Channel, History Channel, and quest. Sega particularly hopes the latter will capture the attention of the game’s core 16-to-34 year old demographic.
On their end, The Guardian already has an online piece helping promote Total War: Rome II. They explain that on September 3, they will be publishing an eight page newspaper made up as if it comes from Roman times, and will later be put up to download. The anachronistic newspaper will have a feature on the Battle of Teutoberg.
Preorders for Total War: Rome II have been available since May 9, with a Greek States Culture Pack available as a bonus among participating retailers. Does this leave you desiring to get a copy of the game yourself? Click here to see Sega’s press release and get a link to their partners.
