Did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Just Get Teased?

January 3, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Internet loses its mind over what is being shown off.

remastered

The Call of Duty franchise is an easy sell as it continues to rake in money from each installment. With that said, the latest release was quite different from the previous titles as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 loses out on the singleplayer campaign narrative journey. Instead, the development team responsible, Treyarch, decided to ditch the story and give players a multiplayer-only experience. This meant that if you picked up the video games mainly to enjoy the story aspect rather than jumping online and versing other players then chances are you ditched on picking the latest game up.

As a result, there is potentially a bigger focus on the next main Call of Duty installment and that may just end up being Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. A new cryptic gif was released online from the senior communications manager over at Infinity Ward. Ashton Williams posted the gif online through his Twitter account which shows off a skull and most associate the skull between two series within the Call of Duty franchise. Some would indicate that the upcoming title may be a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts, which was one of the more letdown experiences for gamers of the Call of Duty umbrella.

Majority of gamers online are instead suggesting that Infinity Ward is planning the next big installment to the Modern Warfare line. At any rate, there is bound to be a narrative campaign attached to this next installment. Perhaps this gif could be indicating that the next game may be a brand new IP in general so we’ll, of course, keep an eye out for any new additional announcements made regarding the franchise or if more cryptic images are released to help break the code.
