Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has prevented Wii U exclusive Pikmin 3 from taking first place on its debut in the UK charts as Sony's The Last of Us slipped from the top of the pile for the first time since that game's release.
Pikmin 3 has placed significantly better than its predecessor in the charts. Pikmin 2 opened in 32nd place in 2004. Reasons for this improvement likely include the relative scarity of major Wii U releases combined with the quiet summer season.
The disc based version of New Super Luigi U, previously only available on the Wii U eShop, launched at 13th this week. Animal Crossing: New Leaf comes in fourth while Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros. takes fifth.
The Last of Us had been number one for the past six weeks.
This week's top 10 is:
(1) Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, (2) Pikmin 3, (3) The Last Of Us, (4) Animal Crossing: New Leaf, (5) Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros., (6) FIFA 13, (7) Far Cry 3, (8) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Legendary Edition, (9) Tomb Raider, (10) LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
The chart is likely to remain relatively unchanged until the release of Volition's Saints Row 4 on August 23rd.
