Sony has today confirmed that its press conference at the gamescom convention in Cologne next month will take place on August 20th, a Tuesday, at 18:00 British Summer Time or 19:00 local time (Central European Time).
The company usually has a number of significant announcements for the event with past Sony gamescom media briefings revealling the first PS3 slim as well as a host of key Vita titles.
This time round the attention will almost certainly focus on PS4 though Vita will likely get some attention as well. It's possible that we'll also learn the actual release date of the PS4 during the conference as well.
Microsoft and Nintendo are both set to make a return to gamescom this year having bypassed the event in 2012 and there will be some announcements made for the Xbox One.
EA will also be hosting a press conference at the show with the first footage of The Sims 4 being demonstrated.
This year's conference will be held at Staatenhaus am Rheinpark in Cologne from August 21st to 25th. gamescom is the world's largest game industry event in terms of visitor numbers with over 275,000 in attendance last year.
Given that both the PS4 and Xbox One will be present this year that number may be even higher.
