Stevivor reports that Microsoft is to reveal the next-generation of the Xbox Live Rewards Program on September 1st following the scrapping of Microsoft Points in favour of real currencies.
According to an email seen by the site, "With all these changes [coming to Xbox Live transactions], it's become necessary for us to evolve the way we rewared you. Starting August 1, 2013, you will not be able to earn Microsoft Points through Xbox Live Rewards any longer.
"Not to worry, though! Since this currency change is impacting the structure of the program, we're taking the opportunity to make Xbox Live Rewards even better," the email continues. "You'll continue to get rewarded for doing the things you love on Xbox Live – just not with Microsoft Points.
"So come back to rewards.xbox.com on September 1, 2013 for the full scoop. You can also follow us at @XboxLiveRewards on Twitter for the latest updates."
It's not currently clear what form these new rewards will take and whether or not Microsoft intends to substitute Microsoft Points for actual currency payments.
As part of the switch to real currencies UK users yesterday said game prices had significantly risen in the country. Microsoft later apologised saying the hikes were "incorrect" and promised to refund those who had been charged excessively.
