Alien bug shooter Earth Defense Force 4 (Titled Earth Defense Force 2025 outside Japan) for the Playstation 3 takes the top spot for the month starting July 1 to 7, selling 154,689 units. The Xbox 360 version also hits the Top 10 at Number 6 with 23,371 untis. Toriko:Gourmet Battle! rounds up the new entrants at Number 9 with 13,315 units.
The latest in the cult favorite third person shooter, Earth Defense Force 2025 once again puts you in the shoes of members of the global army tasked with taking down the returning giant insect infestation. New soldier classes include the female-ony Wing Divers, who fly across the battlefield freely in jet packs and use high tech weaponry, and Air Raiders, who provide all manner of air support, including deploying force fields as well as calling for vehicles and air strikes.
Based on the popular fighting/cooking anime, Toriko: Gourmet Ga Battle! features 4 player fighting. Monsters can come in to join the fight, and players can kill, cook, and eat said monsters for power. I couldn't make this up if I tried.
The Last Of Us stands steadily at Number 8, selling 14, 085 units, although this is already half of last week's sales at 32,472 units.
