In an interview with VG 24/7, Digital Extremes creative director Steve Sinclair praised the Playstation 4's technology and the Dualshock 4, calling the DS4 the best controller they've ever tried.
Digital Extremes will be releasing Warframe, a free to play 3rd person shooter, to both the Playstation 4 and Windows PC. Warframe promises four player cooperative missions in what the developers are calling procedurally generated levels. The story has you playing an ancient race called the Tenno, recently reawakened and in a serious conflict with the Grineer. The Tenno get to use the Warframes, armors that give players different abilities. The game itself will come as a free digital download, with certain weapon upgrades available via microtransactions.
Digital Extremes promises unprecedented cross platform play between the PC and PS4 versions. Sinclair explains they intend to have zero parity between the two versions, including content. They credit Sony with aggressively approaching them to bring the game to PS4. They actually approached Digital Extremes' CEO and rushed to give them developer kits. Within three months, Warframe had a playable build on their system. Sinclair further praises the PS4 console for being so similar to PC. Warframe being made for DirectX 11 and 64-bit in mind, they found PS4 architecture to be very close. Sinclair's enthusiasm for the next gen console extends to the Dualshock 4, as he plays up its touchscreen and share button.
We reported that Warframe was coming to the PS4 just last month.
