David Cage is known for being the creator of both Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) and Heavy Rain, and rather than resting on his laurels, it looks like Cage and his Quantic Dream studio are at work on a new game, rumored to be called Fiv5.
The tumbleblog Superannuation discovered a number of domain registrations relating to Fiv5, and LinkedIn profiles of Quantic Dream employees mentioning the name.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has also trademarked the name of Fiv5 in relation to video game software, suggesting that the game could be a PS3 exclusive like its predecessor, Heavy Rain.
Speaking to the PlayStation Blog, David Cage mentioned that they were going to build on what they discovered with Heavy Rain in their new title, learning from what went right, and what went wrong with the game.
"We own this genre of Interactive Drama and we want to show that Heavy Rain was not a coincidence; it is something that makes sense and we can build on it.
"At the same time, we will not make a sequel and I made that very clear from the beginning, regardless of whether the game was a success or a failure, because I wanted to show that this is a new genre that you can use to tell any kind of story, in any style.
"We're going to be exploring a different direction, which will still be very dark and still for adults, but completely different to Heavy Rain. Our challenge is to satisfy our fans, and also surprise them."
