A lot of new reveals for Pokemon fans today. Let's break them down one by one:
First off, Nintendo has revealed the limited edition 3DS XL units for Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. The new blue and gold units come with gorgeous artwork of five of the new revealed Pokemon, starters Chespin, Froakie and Fennekin, as well as Legendary Pokemon Xerneas and Yveltal. The blue 3DS XL will be available in Japanese stores alongside the game's global launch on October 12. The gold 3DS XL will only be available in Japanese Pokemon Center stores. Both will be bundles with a 4GB SD card that will have either Pokemon X or Pokemon Y. No word yet if either unit will come outside Japan, although Reggie Fils-Aime made earlier comments they plan to release more limited edition 3DS SKUs to try to meet demand for more colors of 3DS units, so this is certainly possible.
A new Japan-only trailer for the games has also been released. Although it does not really provide new information, it will give you a better idea of what the game's features and gameplay will look like.
Finally, in Japan Expo in France, GAME FREAK's Junichi Masuda unveiled a brand new Pokemon, a Steel/Ghost type called Hitotsuki, or Monorpale in French. The Pokemon takes a form of a floating sword and was shown unsheathing itself at the start of a battle. Masuda also promised that this new Pokemon will be revealed to Western fans soon.
Thus far, 18 new Pokemon species have been confirmed for the new games, aside from Mewtwo's new form. We made a feature on some Pokemon theories off NeoGAF recently, but once again, Nintendo manages to surprise us with something no one saw coming.
