Samsung has revealed their new ultra-thin laptops. These new Series 9 systems will give a 11.6" NP900X1A, which will cost around $1199, and the 13.3" NP900X3A, which has a $1649 price tag. You can expect the Series 9 laptops to ship in mid-April.
Now the two laptops have a different build. The larger NP900X3A will have the new Sandy Bridge-based Core i5-2537M, 4GB of memory, and a 128GB SSD. Now the smaller NP900X1A uses an older, Arrandale-based Core i5-2537M, 2GB of memory, and with a 64GB SSD. Processors on both laptops are dual-core affairs with similar base clock speeds. Only the i5-2537M includes Turbo Boost, which raises its maximum frequency to 2.3GHz.
Even with the different panel sizes on the laptops, both will give a 1366×768 display resolution and Intel intergrated graphics. Decent connectivity options will be offered via an external HDMI output, MicroSD slot, and 3 USB 2.0 ports. You will get a 802.11n Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and Bluetooth 3.0. With the 6-cell batteries, Samsung claims the run times will offer up to 7 hours for both systems.
The Series 9 systems have similar physical dimensions. Both are only 0.64" thick and weighs less than three pounds. They also share a textured Duralumin outer skin. Samsung claims with Duralumin skin will offer twice the strength of aluminum.
