Usually sequels to 3DS games end up on the 3DS, or a similar Nintendo platform. From time to time, certain console games find a new home on either the PlayStation Vita or Nintendo 3DS, but it’s not often that you see a follow-up to a portable adventure break out into something even bigger. That might just be the case with Code of Princess 2, though, as Agatsuma Entertainment producer Yasuo Makajima let Siliconera know that he’d like to see it happen.
The original 3DS title didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but the side-scrolling successor to Guardian Heroes did surprisingly well in regions that weren't Japan. Because of this, Makajima wants a second game, and this time on next-generation platforms.
"Kinu-san [Street Fighter artisty] already has ideas about Code of Princess 2 in mind already," Nakajima replied. "If Code of Princess 2 goes into development maybe it will be for consoles like PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. I want to develop it a sequel to Code of Princess for core gamers like fans that are anticipating Dragon’s Crown now."
Dragon’s Crown is just around the corner, and as you’d guess, it looks just as pretty as ever. It should scratch a very specific itch that a particular segment of the gaming community is suffering from, but for Code of Princess 2 to continue to satisfy that same audience, a bigger team and more resources would be required to pull off the console development. If the demand is there, though, the job will get done.
