When you see the words “Xbox One,” what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Plenty of people will probably consider the new cable integration that’s absent on all other consoles, while the “core” group of Xbox consumers might start listing the games. However, if you simply type “the Xbox One is…” on Google, the results aren’t nearly as positive as what I’ve listed above. Actually, almost every search is as venomous as it is comical.
Let’s go over a few of the searches, shall we? According to the people who have been using the Google search engine to explore Xbox One news, Microsoft’s next-generation platform is terrible, ugly, a joke, and going to fail. People also seem to be upset that it’s not backwards compatible, either, which is probably the most mild search that can be found here. There is a segment of the audience that describes the box as “awesome,” but that search option is right at the bottom of the list.
If you’re interested, the results on Bing tell a much different tale. This might be because Bing is the preferred Xbox 360 search engine, or possible because those who choose Bing are just happier with all the policies Microsoft is rolling out.
Look, we can’t condemn the Xbox One before it even launches this November for $499. We have no idea how this console war is going to play out before, well, it actually gets started. Yet, this is just another indication that people aren’t happy with what they’ve seen. Whether that will translate to sales, though, is yet to be determined.
