Supergiant Games already revealed their plans to develop their second game, Transistor, and finally found a chance to show off some gameplay yesterday during Sony's E3 press conference. According to Supergiant Games, Transistor will only release on PS4 and Steam and they currently do not plan to bring it to other platforms.
Transistor places players in a science fiction themed world to again provide an action RPG. Players will control heroin, Red, conveniently following her red.
Bastion, Supergiant Games' first title, released initially as a timed exclusive for the Summer of Arcade promotion on Xbox 360. Once the exclusivity ended, Bastion made its way onto Steam and other platforms. Due to the large financial success of Bastion, Supergiant Games could easily fund the development of Transistor.
Although Supergiant Games did not receive funding from outside sources, including Sony, a reason still remains as to why they chose the PS4. To explain, Supergiant points to the PlayStation 4's next generation status.
Sony showed a lot of interest in demoing Transistor and provided them with the development kits needed alongside the opportunity to showcase Transistor on a main stage. With Transistor, the size of the development team increased from 7 to 10 people.
Transistor will release sometime in 2014.
