At this point, a Mirror’s Edge 2 announcement just seems imminent. We’ve seen a product page on the EA website crop up for the game, an Xbox One listing on Amazon, and a video from the studio that mentions more than just Battlefield 4 on the E3 roster. What once seemed like a game that would never get off the ground is now likely in the works for next-generation consoles, but hey, how does a little more evidence sound? This time, it’s from two people very close to the project.
Two developers decided to discuss the recent video released by DICE concerning E3 news. There’s been plenty of winking and nodding when it comes to Mirror’s Edge 2, but this is just about as close to a confirmation that you can get.
These Tweets were first spotted by NeoGaf, and while one of the people in question doesn’t currently work at DICE, he was with the studio just a year ago. Patrick Liu is currently a creative director and executive producer at Rovio, but when looking at his LinkedIn page, you can see that he worked with DICE from May 2007 until August 2012. He may not have the inside scoop on the most recent projects at the Battlefield house, but if Mirror’s Edge 2 was being worked on at all last year, he would know.
Roland Smedberg, on the other hand, is a senior video director at DICE. He didn’t give anything away when Liu seemed to hint at Mirror’s Edge 2, but it looks as if we’re just a week away from finally seeing the game in action.
