Some people want HD remakes for a simple excuse to revisit a game that wowed them in the past. Others enjoy these re-releases because they missed out on a classic game that made so many waves on a prior console. However, it seems like the vast majority of interested consumers just want to see how pretty old games can look. Fable Anniversary was just announced by Lionhead Studios as a re-mastered version of Fable: The Lost Chapters, and instead of talking about the actual functional improvements to the core game, let’s just gawk at side-by-side comparison of the visuals.
As you can see, the colors are sharper, the textures are smoother, and there are actual shadows covering the on-screen character. The Lost Chapters was impressive on the original Xbox in its day, but what’s being done to the game on the Xbox 360 is truly impressive. Every little detail just seems to be in much greater focus this time around, making an otherwise muddy looking experience more than playable today.
“We're really excited to be bringing a re-mastered version of Fable: The Lost Chapters to the Xbox 360,” Ted Timmins, the project's lead designer, said. “It's been one of the biggest community requests as we know how much the fans love the original game."
The complete HD graphical overhaul will add achievements to The Lost Chapters, and while we’re still without a release date, you can expect to see much more on this piece of eye candy at next week’s E3.
