The El Shaddai intellectual property, previously belong to UTV Ignition Entertainment, now belongs to the Tokyo based development team, Crim.
Crim's acquisition of the IP will involve a "prequel, sequel and other derivative rights of the existing game."
Ignition released El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron in the summer of 2011 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Built around religious themes, El Shaddai focused on hack-and-slack action with some platforming elements. Takeyasu Sawaki, character designer on games like Devil May Cry and Okami, lead the development ofEl Shaddai at Ignition's Tokyo studio.
Takeyasu Sawaki also now runs the Crim development studio, which explains the company's interest in acquiring the El Shaddai IP in the first place.
With acquisition, all rights to sell El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron will continue to exist and belong to Ignition. All sales of the title will also go directly to Ignition with none redirected to Crim.
