Software For The Neo Geo X Is Finally On The Way

May 28, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

Finally, a handheld release of World Heroes 2 Jet. You can die a happy person now.

For those of you who acquired the handheld version of the world's first and only 24-bit video game system (yes, that's actually how SNK tried to promote the system; and you thought Sega's Blast Processing was the stuff of marketing magic) over the holidays and have been waiting patiently for something… anything new to play, your day is almost here.

It has been recently announced that additional, classic Neo Geo games are coming out, to compliment the 20 that's pre-loaded on the system already. And you basically have two options. First, you can pick up one of five Classics releases. Each is a game card that will contain the following games:

Vol I: Sengoku, Metal Slug 2, Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy
Vol II: Samurai Shodown III, Savage Reign, Super Sidekicks 3
Vol III: The King of Fighters '96, Blazing Star, Kizuna Encounter
Vol IV: Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Shock Troopers, World Heroes 2 Jet
Vol V: The Last Blade, Blue's Journey, Art of Fighting 3

Each Classics will cost $24.99. Or, you can go for option number two, and that's to get the Mega Pack, which includes all of the games above, all on one game card, and for just $79.99.

That’s quite the discount… for a bunch of games that are quite old and have been around seemingly ages. And be sure not to bring up any of your potential purchases to your wise cracking friend who will no doubt remind you for the 500th time that all those games can be acquired and emulated for free via a variety of methods.
