As more information releases about the Xbox One's used game plans and future titles, a recent report suggests that the Xbox One will feature a region lock restriction.
In a discussion with Digital Trends, a Microsoft representative spoke about the entertainment industry in different countries and their specific restrictions. In response to the Xbox One the Microsoft representative said:
"Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale. We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One."
So for players looking to import games from Japan or for players wanting to import titles to avoid any tax or censorship laws, the Xbox One will further restrict the games Xbox owners can access. Since countries deem different things in games acceptable and operate under widely different levels of tolerance, agreeing on universal system for the sale of games seems unlikely to happen in the near future.
With only a single hour time in a daytime television schedule, Microsoft couldn't possibly reveal all information regarding the Xbox One. In the same instance, speaking of region locking hardware may only abode well if the restriction will result in a favourable outcome.
