Just recently, EA representative Jeff Brown came out and said that they "have no games in development for the Wii U currently."
Take into consideration the "unprecedented partnership" EA promised a few years ago and recent reports of no games in development, these new claims puts Nintendo in a confusing situation to clarify the extremely mixed messaging.
Even popular sports franchises like FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25 will also skip this year's Wii U release.
During the Stifel Nicolaud Internet, Media and Communications conference, Blake Jorgensen, EA's chief financial officer, said that EA will continue to develop games for the Nintendo Wii U but not nearly as many titles when compared to Sony's and Microsoft's console.
"We are building titles for the Nintendo console, but not anywhere near as many as we are for PS or Xbox."
The topic of conversation arose when a conference attendee asked Jorgensen which console would lead the next generation. In response, Jorgensen explained that players will decide which console will lead.
To explain the absence of FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25 on the Wii U, EA blamed the poor Wii U sales of FIFA 13. The popular soccer franchise joined the list of launch games for the Wii U; a user base much smaller than the millions of PS3 and Xbox 360 owners.
