LG has won a preliminary injunction against Sony in a patent battle related to the PS3, which has forced European Custom Officers to confisicate every Playstation 3 console imported into Europe. The ruling by the civil court of justice in the Hague will prevail for another 10 days as Sony is desperately trying to get the ban lifted.
Sony which imports close to 100,000 PS3s a week into Europe had allegedly infringed the use of Blu-ray technology patented by LG. If Sony is found to be guilty, it would have to compensate LG for every Playstation 3 console sold around the world.
According to guardian, a spokesman for Sony Playstation said: "We are currently looking into this matter, and cannot make any comments at this point in time."
