Digitimes sources in various Sony suppliers have the PlayStation 4's launch later this year could be affected by shipping problems.
Apparently Sony's suppliers have recieved no shipping instructions which could inhibit the company's ambition to shift 12-16 million consoles this year.
"Sony originally told its upstream suppliers that it will start shipping its new PS4 game consoles in June with mass shipments scheduled in August, and shipment volumes would have a chance to reach 20 million units in 2013," Digitimes reports.
When Sony announced the PS4 at the PlayStation 2013 event in New York in February they revealed a 'Holiday 2013' launch date for the console.
Both GameStop and UK retailer GAME have said that they expect the system to be launched worldwide this year. This would mark a change over the PS3 which was releaed in Japan and the US in 2006 but didn't make it to Europe until March 2007.
The PS4 does not yet have a firm release date or price and it's still unknown what the console actually looks like. We should know more about that information following Sony's E3 press conference which is set for June 10th.
