Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was one of the biggest, most pleasant surprises of the year. Instead of simply producing some additional multiplayer content for this highly successful open-world shooter, the bright minds at Ubisoft Montreal cobbled together a colorful, unique adventure through a 1980s action-movie setting. The fans responded in a highly positive manner, and according to the leading voice of the DLC, there could be future content planned in this bizarre world.
Michael Biehn, better known as cyborg protagonist Sergeant Rex “Power” Colt, recently spoke on the phone to Xbox Live’s Major Nelson Radio about the success of the recently released project. During the show, he went in-depth on his meeting with the creative director of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Dean Evans, and the amount of passion they both share for the project. It seemed to be the team’s love of the concept that convinced a once-cautious Ubisoft to go forward with this crazy game, and thanks to sales that were five times higher than the initial projection, all the initial worries have been alleviated.
And these types of expansions may not be finished, either. Ubisoft is excited about Blood Dragon’s numbers, and Biehn believes that more content in this vein is on the way.
“Dean was with me on the phone last night. He was pretty jacked up,” Biehn said. “He was going into a meeting today, to you know… I think he wants to turn it into some sort of franchise. He’s got a sequel in mind.”
Whether or not this game will be set in the same world or an even crazier locale is yet to be announced, but thanks to the fans supporting the team with their dollars, there may be more goofy expansions like Blood Dragon on the way.
