You know that time period when you have what you feel is significant information about a product or console, yet the creator has yet to actually make the whole thing official? That’s where we are right now with the next Call of Duty game, which seems to be leaking more than a faulty set of pipes. The most recent addition to this narrative comes via the official website, which along with the teaser image that was released a little while ago, now displays the phrase “The Ghosts Are Real.”
Now, to anyone not following this story, that statement seems as crazy and cryptic as ever. However, the words make all the sense in the world when you take into account the rumored title of “Call of Duty: Ghosts.” We’ve assumed that the website, which displays a mosaic image made up of the profile pictures of people who sign up, was created for the sole purpose of revealing Ghosts to the hungry public. The name was first discovered by a Youtuber going by “Drift0r” who informed us that this was brought to him by a credible source who he trusts with his life.
That’s not all we’re going on, though. Recent leaked posters for the blockbuster shooter have continued to the pile on the evidence, and today, Modern Warfare studio Infinity Ward has been caught tweeting a link to the second image below, along with the hashtag "#soon.”
The unofficial release date is Nov. 5, 2013, so expect the next big multiplayer craze to release this holiday season.
