Do you remember the very first time Mario spoke in the game? Also, do you remember the very first time you heard Charles Martinet as the official voice of Mario? It was Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64, right? Well it might have been your first time, but there was another game in which he lent his vocal talents to breath life into Nintendo's number one mascot.
And what was this game called? Mario's Game Gallery. Yes, never heard of it either. Even folks who already know about such obscure, third party offerings like Mario Is Missing and Mario's Time Machine might be hard pressed to conjure up a mental image it. But be that as it may, it was the very first game to feature the voice Martinet:
The best part is how Mario is a total jerk, naturally.
Though as it turns out, the above might actually be inaccurate. The creator of the video, in the comments section of Desturctoid, states:"It's really hard to find accurate information on these games. However from what I can tell Mario Teaches Typing might have been released slightly after Mario's Game Gallery."
Mario Teaches Typing? Sorry, never heard of it either. At any rate, most will agree that the very first game to feature Mario talking, period, was Hotel Mario for the ill-fated CD-i. Thank goodness that actor didn't go on to become the official voice. Just track down a YouTube video to see what I mean (though here's my favorite example).
