Australia’s largest gaming convention is about to get bigger. In 2018, PAX Aus will be entering co-op mode with the illustrious EB Games Expo, which makes the trip down to Melbourne for the first time in history.
Traditionally, the EB Games Expo has been held in both Sydney and the Gold Coast. This year brings the convention — which first opened its doors in 2011 — into a thriving celebration of PC, console, handheld and VR games, and will give Melburnians a peek at the EB Expo Live Theatre, a dedicated area for big-name publishers to display upcoming games, and what is basically the largest EB Games (GameStop equivalent) pop- up store. EB Games Event Director Debra McGrath was thrilled at the union:
“Our vision for the future is to create a world-class event that becomes a landmark on the global gaming calendar. After an exhaustive search we have found a kindred spirit in the awesome team at PAX Australia, who share our vision. Together, with the full support of the Australian publisher community, the IGEA and Creative Victoria we are committed to creating an event that gives Australians the experience they deserve”
It’s not yet confirmed whether the merger means the expo will be a Melbourne-only event.
PAX Aus is taking place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from Oct 26-28.
