Metal Gear Solid is a series that has stood the test of time. Most recently, Revengeance took the series to multiple consoles. While the title didn't necessarily wow the gaming media, it certainly showed that interest in the franchise is still high. Its precursor, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, won multiple game of the year awards. Its focus was on protagonist Solid Snake, who has been the focal point of the majority of the games in the series.
A few months ago, it was announced that David Hayter – who voices Solid Snake – would not be reprising his role. This was met with much criticism from fans, and it is hard to argue that they were wrong. Perhaps this is why rumors have come about regarding David Hayter and his involvement in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. One of the more major rumors running around is that the man in this video is none other than David Hayter himself. Whether or not this is viral marketing or simply a random Youtube user trying to play a prank is unknown, but it is certainly worth noting. In the video, a riddle is laid on the table: "I am who you thought I would be all along."
Considering the person in the video claims we will know his identity "soon," we are expecting that an answer will be upon us in the next week or this is a fake. If this does prove to be a real marketing ploy, it will definitely go down as one of the more unique ones. Only time will tell – watch Gameranx for the latest.
