Speaking to Edge, Dice's executive producer, Patrick Bach, has said motion control is a "gimmick" and won't be included in Battlefield 4 because "there's no point unless it adds value for the player."
Bach claimed other studios are "throwing money" at Dice to implement motion control in their games but the developer has resisted their efforts.
"We are not interested in things that don't make the game better," he commented. "There are a lot of gimmichs – people throwing money at us – 'can you implement support for this quirky control thing'. No, it doesn't make the game better.
"We are extremely open to innovation, but if it's a gimmich, there's no point unless it adds value to the player. Touch screens used to be a gimmick, because no-one could get it to work until iPhone came out and used it right. It adds to the experience, and now everyone is doing it. To us it's the same with motion control and perceptual gaming in general; if it adds, great. If it's a gimmick, ignore it."
While it's unclear who might have approched Dice to implement motion features it seems reasonable to believe Sony and Microsoft are among the interested parties seeing as Battlefield 4 is coming to their Move and Kinect supporting consoles repectively.
Battlefield 4, which uses Dice's proprietary Frostbite 3 engine, is set for release later this year on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC while next-gen versions of the game have not yet been announced.
Dice have previously released a 17 minute gameplay trailer. Yesterday, Dice revealed they intend Battlefield 4's single player campaign to act as an introduction to the game's multiplayer.
