People get fired from their jobs all time, often for doing things that pisses their bosses. One very recent and quite perfect example is Adam Orth, the now former Creative Director at Microsoft Studios. His antics on Twitter caused his bosses to lose face, mostly due to Orth effectively spilling the beans that their next console will indeed require an always-on internet connection.
But then you have Alain 'Gaston' Rémy, a now former artist at Ubisoft Montpellier, the same studio that Michel Ancel (or Rayman fame) is a part of. According to Joystiq, Rémy was let go in December of 2012 over caricatures he penned of his bosses that they apparently found unflattering.
The following is France 3's report, though unless you are fluent in French, you probably won't gleam much from it:
Joystiq, going off of France 3's intel, states that Rémy had been an employee of Ubisoft for six years and spent much of his time working on the Rabbids franchise. The artist is seeking to contest the decision via the French labor court system. They will announce their decision on July 26.
If you go to his website, you can check out his extensive body of work, including published works that feature caricatures of prominent and very public figures. So it's not like drawing pictures of people is uncommon for the man.
Furthermore, Rémy contents that the illustrations were done just for fun and were never publicly released, so it's not like he was trying to humiliate anyone publicly either. Which is why some consider his bosses to be totally devoid of any sense of humor. While others content that any drawing of your boss is flat out disrespectful. What do you think?
