Criterion Games' last racing title was Need for Speed: Most Wanted, a game which borrowed much from the likes of its earlier namesake and more than a few elements from Burnout Paradise. It combined the open world setting of Burnout Paradise with the chase mechanics of the original Most Wanted.
Since the release of Most Wanted, Criterion has been at work on a new title, which is rumored to be a reboot of Need for Speed: Underground. Word of the game's existence surfaced with the leak of a logo purporting to be of the game on EGM.
Interestingly enough, the logo appears to depict landmarks from London and Italy.
Need for Speed: Underground is remembered for its tribute to the aftermarket racing scene. It was well regarded for its wealth of customization options, which allowed players to access a host of car upgrades, decals, and add other visual improvements to their cars. Players would participate in a variety of races with make-shift circuits out on the open road and drag races. The game's sequel also saw the addition of drift tracks.
It's too early to say whether the logo is legitimate, so we'll toss this one in the rumor bin for now.
