With the release of an all new batch of screenshots, The Elder Scrolls Online is looking more and more like its single-player counterparts.
Developed by Zenimax Online Studios and published by Bethesda, the game is set to take place about a thousand years before the events of Oblivion and pulls back the curtains on Tamriel's storied past. Players choose between one of the game's three main factions as they vie—violently, even—for dominance over the land. Amidst their three-sided war, an ancient evil—a Daedric prince named Molag Bal—threatens to plunge the world into chaos once more by invading it with his legions with a goal to dominate and enslave the races of mortals.
Far be it for these mortals to put their differences aside and join forces to fight against him, however, as each faction has as much to lose to each other as they do to the threat of the Daedra.
In any case, the game's newly released screenshots depict environments with the same breathtaking scale as Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind. And although the aesthetic may differ, the game is clearly an Elder Scrolls game.
