BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk has discussed his time at the studio and its relationship with EA in a GamesIndustry interview saying "we had complete creative control" following EA's purchase of the developer in 2007.
Zeschuk and fellow co-founder Ray Muzyka retired from BioWare last year following the release of Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 which recieved mixed responses from gamers and critics with the Consumerist partially blaming Mass Effect 3 for EA being voted the worst company in America last year saying the game's ending was rushed and the EA published the game before it was ready.
Yesterday EA made history by retaining the worst company title for the second year in a row.
However, Zeschuk says BioWare had "complete creative control" during the development of these games. He went on to explain why BioWare agreed to the EA deal saying Muzyka had previously dealt with former EA CEO John Riccitiello and they had a comfortable working relationship.
"The last thing you want to do is kind of blindly sell your company and not really know what you're in for," Zeschuk commented, "because all the work you've ever done can be easily undone."
At this year's Game Developer Conference Zeschuk and Muzyka were presented with lifetime achievement awards. BioWare have announced that they are currently developing a new entry in the Mass Effect franchise, as well as Dragon Age 3: Inquistion and a new IP.
