Most texture errors in games are anything but horrifying. They tend to be dull and consist of little more than untextured characters wandering lifelessly across scenes that would otherwise be a lot more interesting had they all of their features rendered as the game developers intended.
This isn't quite so with Tomb Raider, where rendering and texture errors have resulted in some of the most horrifying screenshots I've ever personally seen. Lara Croft without her skin resembles a Martian from Mars Attacks, and the sounds "Ack! Ack! Ack! Ack!" instantly find themselves lodged out of the tar sands of my childhood memories, where they were buried so many years ago for being as terrifying as they were.
In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, those are the sounds the aliens make as they communicate to each other with skinless faces and bulging eyes that inspired nightmare fuel for years to come.
Well, at least her hair's nice.
