343 Industries' executive producer Dan Ayoub has told DigitalSpy they're "looking at" the possibility of adding microstansactions to Halo 4.
"I think Halo certainly has the potential for these kind of things," Ayoub commented. "We don't have too much to talk about in terms of our plans down that line, but it's certainly something… we've seen the fans of Gears (of War) are enjoying, and if it's something we think our community is going to enjoy, it's something we'll seriously talk about," he added.
The release of the Castle map pack today concludes the content available as part of Halo 4's season pass but Ayoub teased that more DLC may be on the way.
"Anything we do will be pretty deliberate," he said, "Obviously our commitment is always that we're going to make sure there's something for people to do on Halo, whether it's playlists, or new maps or new content, something like that.
"We can't say too much about the specifics we're planning, but what we can say is we don't take that commitment lightly, and people should keep their eyes open for cool stuff," Ayoub concluded.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 recently added microstranactions for customisable weapons skins including the option to cover your gun in bacon (yes, really).
While nothing has yet been announced it's likely 343 are working on bringing the next entry in the Halo franchise to the Xbox 720 and future games in the series may indeed feature the microtranactions model from launch.
