In preperation for the beaming-in (sorry) of Star Trek: The Video Game developer Digital Extremes got William Shatner to play the game in a newly released trailer which also features a guy dressed as a Gorn because, why not? Something to do with Q probably, anyway here's the trailer.
The co-op orientated game is set before the events of Paramount Pictures' soon to be released Star Trek: Into Darkness and will launch into the Alpha Quadrant, or at least to a PS3, Xbox 360 or PC near you, on April 23rd with a variety of pre-order bonuses including new uniforms and weapons.
Earlier this week the game's marketing president Brian Miller said Star Trek: The Video Game isn't being developed as a piece of "throwaway merchandise."
This isn't the first time a celebrity has been involved in a game's commercial with Harrison Ford appearing in a Japan only advertisement for Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception though this may well be the first time someone has played their own character (albiet, the game's Kirk is based on Chris Pine's iteration of the Enterprise captain).
