Ubisoft executive Jade Raymond has spoken to MCV about her belief that developers don't need the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 in order to be innovative.
"As a gamer and developer I'm very excited about the promise of next-gen. That being said, innovation is not necessarily driven by teraflops alone," Raymond commented. "In my opinion, many of the most exciting concepts lately have been driven out of the indie scene and have come to life on less powerful platforms."
Speaking about Splinter Cell: Blacklist, a project Raymond is overseeing, she commented "With Splinter Cell: Blacklist, not only do I think the team is delivering the best stealth experience of this generation, I also think that we are delivering a completely new multiplayer experience. Hopefully unique gameplay is still a feature than can make a game stand out."
Despite Raymond's claims Ubisoft are developing both Watch_Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flags as cross-gen titles though they have yet to announce next-gen only games. Earlier this week gameplay footage of Black Flags running on PS4 was released and Ubisoft have said the PS4 version will be the best one to play.
Blacklist is due to sneak in to game stores on August 20th.
