Gears of War: Judgment has debuted at the top of the UK charts, according to data collected by UKIE. Though the prequel didn't manage to beat its predecessor Gears of War 3 (which apparently actually sold four times as many copies), it did well to dethrone Tomb Raider, which was at the top of the UK charts for two weeks despite several new entries that could have challenged it.
One new game that proved no challenge for either Gears of War: Judgment or Tomb Raider this week was The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, though given the poor critical reception to the game (it currently has a Metacritic rating of 36) it's perhaps surprising that it managed to make it even as high as number three in the charts.
After The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, FIFA 13 has climbed back up to number four. According to UKIE, this makes 26 weeks (i.e. half a year) that FIFA 13 has sat comfortably in the top six in the UK charts. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 and God of War: Ascension, both new titles last week, have both fallen one place in the charts, to fifth and sixth place respectively.
Another new title is Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which came to the Wii U this week. Considering the fact that console has failed to find widespread appeal, it's impressive the game has managed to make it to number seven in the charts, above SimCity, Far Cry 3, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
