With the end of the weekend concluding the Metal Gear Survive open beta, Producer Yuji Korekado took the opportunity to clear up a couple of issues fans found were found with the title. First off, Yuji wanted to apologize for the spin-off confusion Metal Gear Survive might have created with Hideo Kojima’s original series.
‘Fans and gamers in general seemed to take Metal Gear Survive to be a continuation of the Metal Gear series, so I regret that we caused that confusion.’
Another issue faced with the title was that a few websites recently began reporting that the game will feature microtransactions. However, the Producer clarified that these worst nightmares of gamers (loot boxes and P2W microtransactions) won’t materialize here.
‘There will not be loot boxes, and there will not be Pay-to-Win types of microtransactions. There will be things like the accessories in Metal Gear Online, and Forward Operating Base in MGSV: The Phantom Pain.’
Metal Gear Survive will launch on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 20th in North America, February 21st in Japan and February 22nd in Europe. It will be priced at $39.99. Thoughts on this upcoming survival title? Let us know in the comments below.
