DICE and EA Games have launched the official website for Battlefield 4, effectively announcing the game as something more official than hearsay from second-hand sources.
The website invites interested players to sign up for an Origin account to help unlock details about the game. Those who already have accounts are urged to log in. It's designed so anyone interested in the game will have to pitch in as a part of a concentrated social effort to bring the game to light.
As an incentive to Battlefield 3 players, anyone who logs in prior to the game's full reveal will earn an "I Was There" in-game dog tag for use in BF3.
Logging in reveals what appears to be a screenshot of the game, which depicts a pair of Bradley IFVs followed by an M1A2 Abrams main battle tank in the rain. There's a city behind them that's been widely rumored to be located in China, although it's impossible to confirm whether that's actually the case.
A first look at Battlefield 4's gameplay will be revealed on March 27. Although release details have yet to be revealed, the game is widely anticipated to be announced for the PC and next-gen platforms including Sony's recently announced PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's successor to the Xbox 360—which everyone is tentatively referring to as the Xbox 720.
