In a press release today EA have announced the free games they're offering to SimCity players in a bid to make up for the title's troubled launch.
The always online game suffered severe issues as servers became overclogged with users forcing many games to dropped while causing others significant wait-times to play.
The games in question are; Battlefield 3, Bejeweled 3, Dead Space 3, Mass Effect 3, Medal of Honor Warfighter, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Plants vs Zombies and finally (the offline playable) SimCity 4.
In the press release the developer Maxis commented: “Our SimCity Mayors are incredibly important to the team at Maxis. We sincerely apologize for the difficulties at launch and hope to make it up to you with a free PC game download from Origin.
“Starting today, every player that has activated their copy of SimCity will receive an email that will give directions on how to redeem this offer.”
The portal allowing gamers to download their free title of choice will be available to everyone by March 22nd. Players have until March 26th to register their copy of SimCity to avail of the offer and have until March 31st to download their choice.
The SimCity saga has seen EA threaten a customer with an Origin ban over complaints while denying refunds to users who have requested reimbursement for the game’s unstable launch. Modders have discovered that much of title’s features are accessible offline while it is also possible to destroy anyone’s city in the game’s debug mode.
EA have also been accused of obscuring their customer support number on the game’s forums.
