The gaming world is rife with amazing monuments to modification development and other sorts of homegrown efforts at entry into the industry. Today is no different, as we’ve found someone using the Starcraft 2 Map Editor to recreate one of the most legendary games of all time – Diablo II.
Reddit user eGod says he has been working on this game for almost three years – a long time for something that might not pay off in the end. In any case, he’s announced that an Alpha version of his game will be up on Battle.net “soon.”
eGod has asked the general public for donations to support the mod through his Twitch channel, where he also livestreams the development process. The project has received some attention, as his channel has almost 34,000 views and 158 favorites; this is no small feat for a project of this size.
Furthermore, eGod has a devoted Youtube channel. Here he shows various recordings from his game development, including what appears to be an attempt at a multiplayer Zelda. His videos have garnered over 200,000 views in total, and with this most recent Starcraft mod project going over so well, that number is expected to grow.
With the game nearing completion, it’s likely that it will actually see the light of day. We’re extremely excited to see what three years of hard work in the Starcraft 2 Map Editor can do for a game. How about you? Let us know in the comments section below.
