Maxis, the studio that has been having the worst week ever, has taken to its blog to announce that problems with SimCity are "almost behind us."
Lucy Bradshaw, Maxis Senior Vice President, stated that millions of users have been able to connect to SimCity and enjoy the game, just days after most users reported problems with connecting online.
"A combination of optimizing our server architecture and response times, deploying these enhancements on both a series of new and the original servers and issuing a few critical client updates has achieved getting virtually everyone into the game and, once in, having a great time building cities and sharing regions," Bradshaw said.
Maxis also added that the problem has not been solved entirely, and that the company wants to wait a couple of days before giving players the "all clear."
The company would also like to thank its fanbase for having confidence in the company and that the issues would be fixed quickly.
"I can’t begin to explain the way a development team feels when something you’re proud of is threatened at launch," Bradshaw explained. "Our biggest fear was that people who love this franchise would be scared off by bad reviews about the connectivity issues."
The brunt of the blame for the server problems has fallen on EA, which has come under fire for creating online-only DRM, prompting a petition to have it removed.
Things only got worse for EA before they got better. A customer service representative for the company prompted Internet rage after a customer was outright refused a refund, and was threatened with an Origin ban.
